iPhotron is a folder-native photo manager inspired by macOS Photos that organizes media using lightweight JSON manifests and cache files while keeping all original files intact. It offers rich album functionality with a folder-native design where every folder is an album without requiring import.
The application features a location view that displays photo footprints on an interactive map clustering nearby photos by GPS metadata. It provides full Live Photo pairing and playback support, seamlessly pairing HEIC/JPG and MOV files using Apple's ContentIdentifier. The sidebar includes an auto-generated Basic Library grouping photos into All Photos, Videos, Live Photos, Favorites, and Recently Deleted. An immersive detail view offers elegant viewing with filmstrip navigator and floating playback bar for videos.
iPhotron includes non-destructive photo editing with Adjust and Crop modes. The Adjust mode provides light adjustments (Brilliance, Exposure, Highlights, Shadows, Brightness, Contrast, Black Point), color adjustments (Saturation, Vibrance, Cast), and black & white adjustments (Intensity, Neutrals, Tone, Grain). Crop mode offers perspective correction, straighten tool, flip support, and interactive crop box. All edits are stored in .ipo sidecar files, preserving original photos untouched.
The application features a floating metadata panel showing EXIF, camera/lens info, exposure, aperture, focal length, and file size. It supports drag & drop files from Explorer/Finder directly into albums, multi-selection, context menus for Copy, Show in Folder, Move, Delete, Restore, with smooth thumbnail transitions and macOS-like album navigation.
The core engine uses a global SQLite database for lightning-fast queries on massive libraries with smart incremental scanning and persistent SQLite index. It includes reverse geocoding to convert GPS coordinates into human-readable locations and GPU rendering with real-time OpenGL 3.3 preview.
