Hearica is a captioning tool that works across your entire computer system, unlike most captioning tools that only work inside one app. It captures any call, any video, and any voice audio from your computer and transcribes it in real time.

The product sits as a floating overlay on your screen and transcribes whatever you're hearing. It can save and replay with audio, export transcripts, translate into 60+ languages, and add custom context for perfect accuracy. The tool leverages cloud processing to run on any PC while being significantly more accurate than YouTube auto-captions or built-in transcription models.

Hearica started as an open-source project called System Captioner, tinkering with OpenAI Whisper models to create a tool that could caption live streams. The current version uses cloud-based processing to provide more accurate transcription than built-in system models.

The main benefit is helping people with hearing loss never miss a word again. Adding context, even a short note like 'A live stream of a medical lecture', makes the transcription even more accurate for specific use cases.

Hearica is designed for deaf and hard-of-hearing users who need real-time captioning across all computer applications. It's currently available on Windows with a macOS launch coming soon, and it's being bootstrapped as a solo passion project.
